Fatman Scoop To Play Rugby 7s Festival

Fatman Scoop, Spring Break and Daithi will all play Dublin 7s Festival this weekend.

Taking place on May 28th in Donnybrook stadium, the Dublin 7s Rugby Festival has released details of its world class music and entertainment line up to complement a stellar line up of top international rugby stars set to battle it out on the pitch in the fastest and most exciting variation of the sport.

With over 10 million YouTube hits to his name, the legendary hip-hop artist Fatman Scoop heads the Dublin 7s line up and his infectious smash hit “Be Faithful” will serve up a nostalgia overload as Fatman returns to Dublin.

Festival favourite Daithi has become a household name and honed his craft supporting global mega acts; Santigold, The XX, Macklemore and DJ Shadow before striking out on his own and cracking the Irish festival circuit. 2016 is set to be a massive year for this raw talent and the Dublin 7’s festival will give music and rugby fans the chance to hear him for one of the first outdoor gigs of the year.

Hailed as the best 80’s cover bands in the country, Spring Break will bring their high octane, fist pumping floor fillers to the Dublin 7s festival. Packed with floor filling hits from the best of the 80’s their ever expanding repertoire will fill the break between the elite on field competition.

The Rugby

Ireland’s premier rugby 7s competition, The Dublin 7’s Festival, on pitch line-up will feature leading Irish province, Ulster, the national sides of Italy, Germany, Jamaica and Norway as well as the Samurai International team and European heavyweight clubs; Biarritz and London Wasps.

The Samurai International team have become known for their eye catching kit and display sublime skills as well as the Italian national side who are ranked in the top 15 in the world. Two time European Cup winners, London Wasps, and Rio 2016 hopefuls, Jamaica and Germany, add plenty of fire power to the line-up and the power and skill of both Biarritz and team Norway are sure to entertain and thrill in equal measures.

The festival will also boast a domestic competition with current AIL Champions, Lansdowne FC among the favourites. Old Belvedere, UCD, Trinity College, St Mary’s, Bective Rangers, Blackrock College and Old Wesley will have other ideas as they look to display their class in the fast paced 7s format.

Alongside the on field spectacle, spectators of all ages can enjoy live music, festival favourite DJ sets, a family fun zone, artisan food stalls and for the adults, a craft beer zone featuring some of Ireland’s top brewers.
