Colin Farrell will be honoured with the Golden Icon Award at this year’s Zurich Film Festival—an accolade that celebrates extraordinary contributions to cinema.
The festival runs from 25 September to 5 October, with the award revealed on 27 September, just before the gala premiere of Farrell’s new thriller.
Festival director Christian Jungen praised Farrell as “one of the most passionate and charismatic character actors in auteur cinema,” particularly singling out his emotionally charged turn in Edward Berger’s Macau-set drama.

Following the award evening, Farrell will return the next day for a ZFF Masters masterclass, offering insights into his acclaimed film career—from In Bruges and The Banshees of Inisherin to his recent role in The Penguin.
Other past recipients of the Golden Icon include film legends like Kate Winslet, Jessica Chastain, Hugh Jackman, and Cate Blanchett, placing Farrell in truly stellar company.
