Sister Sledge, Neneh Cherry and Coronation Street's Craig Charles are just some of the artists set to play The BeatYard festival in Dun Laoghaire this August Bank Holiday weekend. The event is in its tenth year but this is the first time it is being held in the seaside village.
There's an emphasis on food and drink too, with The Big Blue Bus parking up. (Some of ye may know it from being out the back of the Bernard Shaw pub in Portobello.) There's also a beer hall, a coffee brewing showcase and local heroes Teddy's Ice-Cream will be on site.

In a twist to the traditional festival line up, there'll be a games area featuring a 'Pinball Parlour' and ping pong tables. Hipsters can trim their beards at the pop-up barber, skateboarders can get some new kicks at the sneaker fair and there'll be some hot-tubs for those looking to take a dip. All the organisers need now is a bit of sun, eh?
It's been a few years since the wonderful Festival of World Cultures folded, so Dubs will probably be delighted to see a similar vibe being recreated this bank holiday weekend. To get you in the mood, here's a little Sister Sledge because... well, who needs a reason to play a birra disco!
