The Taoiseach has tested negative for COVID-19 after being a close contact of the French President.

While Justice Minister Helen McEntee is restricting her movements this evening after being a close contact of a possible case.

Contact With President Macron Last Week

Taoiseach Micheál Martin was restricting his movements earlier after being a close contact of the French President Emmanuel Macron.

Multiple European leaders had to self isolate or restrict movements after spending time with the French President at last week's European Council meeting.

The Taoiseach had a rapid test this afternoon which was negative for COVID.

However, Justice Minister Helen McEntee is restricting her movements this evening.

A spokesman for the Minister confirmed she is a close contact of someone who is being tested after displaying symptoms, and as a result will restrict her movements pending the result of that test.

It comes amid concern in government about the spread of COVID ahead of the lifting of travel restrictions tomorrow.
