It was a Dubliner who propelled England to a six wickets victory over Ireland in this one dayer in front of a sellout 10,000 crowd in Malahide.

English skipper Eoin Morgan hit an unbeaten 124 off 106 balls as he featured in an unbroken fifth wicket partnership of 226 – the highest in international one day cricket – with another centurion Ravi Bopara.

They rescued England from a dreadful start in which they had lost their opening four wickets for just 49 with Tim Murtagh taking three of them.

In the Irish innings, Willie Porterfield also played a captainÂ’s role hitting 112 of their total of 269-7.
