There's an appeal for information to a garda shooting in Dublin yesterday, which resulted in the death of a man.

George Nkencho was shot in a Hartstown housing estate after members of the force responded to reports of a man with a knife in a local shopping centre.

Bullets were fired from an official Garda firearm after the man made several threats and an attempt to resolve the situation with non-lethal force failed.

GSOC is now investigating the incident, and a post mortem is due to take place shortly.

Meanwhile over 100 people have gathered to protest outside Blanchardstown Garda Station.

Protesters are calling for the arrest of the officer who shot Mr Nkencho and say they want to receive daily updates on the GSOC investigation into the incident.

The protesters held signs saying “Black Lives Matter” and say they’re seeking justice for George.
