Popular UK coffee chain, Pret-a-Manger, is opening its first store in Ireland this week.

The coffee and sandwich retailer is coming to Dublin's Dawson Street on Friday.

The chain has over 300 stores in the UK, as well as locations in the likes of France, Belgium and Germany.

Ahead of the big opening on Friday, interim managing director Guy Meakin says they're excited to expand to other locations.

"Dublin opens on Friday and we're hoping to have 20 more over the next 10 years."

"We've got a great partner over here in Ireland and we're working with some amazing Irish suppliers."

"We're really excited to grow our Pret estate in Ireland and bring Pret to more people."

The coffee outlet was founded in 1983 in London, with its first shop in the Hampstead area.

It plans to create 500 jobs with its Irish expansion in the coming years.
