Following an investigation into suspected fraud at a Credit Union in Dublin, a woman has appeared in court charged with stealing almost €900,000.

Anne Butterly, of Channel Road, Rush, Co Dublin, is a former manager of Rush Credit Union.

Anne Butterly is facing 35 theft charges. The 65 year old is accused of stealing just under €900,000 on dates between 2009 and 2016.

She was arrested following an investigation into suspected fraud at Rush Credit Union, where she used to work as a manager.

In relation to one of the charges, she said, “I can’t remember him.”

When another was put to her, she said, “It seems to be the same amount on two occasions. I don’t think I would have done this.”

And in relation to another allegation, she told Gardai, “That €40,000 came out and went back in within two days, I’m nearly sure.”

The court heard she made no reply to the other charges.

There was no objection to bail today and Ms Butterly is due to appear in court again on the 1st of September.
