Dublin City Council has issued a letter calling for the mural of two men hugging in the city centre to be removed.
The giant painting, created by artist Joe Caslin, was put up on the side of a building on South Great Georges Street earlier this month.
Now a warning has been issued by planning officials asking for the mural to be removed because its doesn't have permission to be up there.
Councillor Mannix Flynn said it was purely a planning matter and has nothing to do with the content of the painting which is pro gay marriage.
When errected the image was widely shared on social media.
It's not known when the mural will be removed.
