The Vatican has dismissed a priest after he told a newspaper he was gay and urged the Catholic Church to change its stance on homosexuality.

He then held a news conference with his partner, a Spanish man and gay activist, at a Rome restaurant which the Vatican has since deemed "irresponsible."
