Traffic restrictions are in place around the IFSC to allow for the arrival of a number of European leaders later today.

As European leaders meet in Brussels today to discuss the crisis in Ukraine, many of them will be arriving here for the European Peoples Party conference in the Convention Centre.

Among those attending will be German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Local traffic restrictions are in place for the next two days but there’s no ring of steel.

At least 50 Gardai are on patrol around the Convention Centre today and tomorrow.

Superintendent Sean Ward from Store Street Garda Station says they’re trying to minimise the disruption for residents and businesses in the area.

North Wall Quay will also close at 6.30 this evening from Guild Street to the O2.
