Student Universal Support Ireland, better known as SUSI, says it has already received 85,000 student grant applications as they enter the final day for submissions.
The group is urging students to apply before today's 5pm deadline to ensure that their applications receive priority.
Spokesperson Graham Doyle says 100,000 applications are expected for the 2014/2015 academic year:
