Subsidies for Building Apartments Slammed By Opposition

Plans that could see subsidies given to developers to build apartments have been labelled ' bizarre' by the opposition.

Under proposals yet to be finalised, those building apartments could receive up to 120,000 euro per unit to deal with rising costs.

However, the scheme would be focused on boosting supply instead of making homes more affordable for home buyers.

Sinn Fein's Housing Spokesperson Eoin O'Broin says it would be a waste of money:

"The idea that we would use hundreds of millions of euros tax payers money to subsidise developers building exceptionally high-cost homes and that there would be no reduction in price is just bizarre."
