The trial of a man who is accused of raping a woman with Down Syndrome has heard from a teenage witness who told the court he offered her wine, cigarettes and money for sex.
The man who cannot be name for legal reasoned is accused of rape, sexual assault and of having sex with a mentally impaired person.
He admits having sexual contact with the alleged victim in his Dublin flat but claims it was consensual.
The court heard from an 18 year old woman who was 15 at the time she met the accused as she was walking in Dublin in June 2013.
She told the court he stopped her and offered her wine, cigarettes and money for sex. She said he tried to grab her but she kicked him and ran away.
She said she met again a few days later with her friend and said she believed he was following them as they tried to walk away.
The court also heard from another witness who lived near the accused.
She said she was intimated by him and felt he had been watching her a number of times as she entered her house.
