We're just months away from weather that will see us heading to the beach in our droves, so where are the best places to go?

Well, the latest Environmental Protection Agency report into bathing water quality has described the South Beach at Rush as "poor".

Loughshinny Beach, Balbriggan, Front Strand Beach and Merrion Strand all have "sufficient" quality.

Overall the quality of Ireland's bathing waters continues to be very good.

A total of 94 percent of our beaches are meeting stricter new EU standards.

The problems, according to Irish Water, relate in many instances to sewage discharges where the infrastructure is inadequate.

It says projects are underway to bring the beaches up to the required standards, with some expected to be completed by Summer.
