The Gardaí are launching a new pilot scheme aimed at boosting the force's interaction with their communities.
The Small Areas Policing Programme is being tested in North County Dublin - and will see Gardaí visit every resident in their area.
It's hoped the programme could be introduced into other areas if it's a success.
AGSI President Tim Galvin says it's a welcome return to community policing - however he's concerned rural units may not have enough personnel to take part.
