A man has been refused bail after being charged in connection with a slash hook attack at the Smithfield horse fair in 2011.
The suspect was extradited from the UK before he appeared in court yesterday.
Four thousand 500 horse traders and spectators attended the Smithfield market on March 6th 2011 when violence broke out.
Yesterday 31 year old Simon Quilligan, of no fixed abode, appeared at Dublin District Court following his arrest in England.
He was charged with assault causing serious harm to Wesley McDonagh at the fair.
He also faces charges of assault causing harm to Michael McInerney, violent disorder and producing a slash hook in the course of a dispute.
The accused was refused bail and remanded in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court on August 13th.
