The Phoenix Park is becoming more accessible for Dubliners and tourists.
They’re launching a new tourist train tomorrow which will start at Dublin Zoo, going up to Farmleigh and coming back to the Zoo via the Visitor centre.
Margaret Gormley is the Chief Parks Superintendent with the OPW – she says the train will show off all the park has to offer.
“There’s 1752 acres here, over 400 of a deer herd, 400 hectares of trees. They’ll get to experience the whole of the PhoenixPark in a nice, tranquil relaxing way. There’s a live commentary on the train which will give a little bit on the history, the wildlife and the ecology.”
She added that it will open the park to everyone, not just Dubliners.
“It’s a huge resource here in the city of Dublin and we feel the train will be another way of getting people into the park and using the facilities in the park.”
The train costs 8 euro for adults, 4 Euro for children and there’s a 20 euro family ticket as well.
