A court has heard that a man on trial for murder had delusional thoughts about Eminem and 50 cent.

Michael Gannon was babysitting his daughter’s children when he was stabbed to death in November 2013.

31 year old Dragos Nica from Mourne Park in Skerries has pleaded NOT guilty to the murder of his neighbour’s dad by reason of insanity.

This afternoon a psychiatrist who had interviewed Dragos Nica told the jury the accused believed he had been poisoned by the victim’s daughter, who he had a brief relationship with.

On the day of the stabbing, he had taken cannabis and started hallucinating that this poison was bulging in his arm.
The accused felt he was going to die soon and pleaded with Eminem and 50 cent to avenge his death before he went next door and stabbed Michael Gannon.

The psychiatrist said he believed Dragos Nica has chronic paranoid schizophrenia and at the time of the stabbing he was suffering from a psychosis which was partially driven by cannabis use and because his meds were being changed.
