A man has been jailed for 13 years for his role in the killing of Daniel McAnaspie.
Trevor Noone (28) of Dublin 15 was one of two men who lured the Finglas teenager to his death. The 17 year old had been under the care of the State when he went missing in February 2010 as both his parents had passed away.
His badly decomposed body was found three months later in a deep ditch in Co Meath. A post mortem showed he had been stabbed multiple times. The weapon was believed to be the blade from half a garden shears.
The judge took Noone's guilty plea and remorse into consideration and Daniel's family clapped when the sentence was handed down.
Speaking outside court his sister Cathriona said she was happy with the verdict: "We just like to thank everybody for their support over the last few years, especially the last few weeks. Justice has finally been done for my brother so he can rest in peace now."
She added: "He was a lovely young fella, he didn't deserve to die the way he did. And them two absolute f***ing scumbags are going to rot in hell."
Daniel McAnaspie was last seen drinking in the company of two men in Tolka Valley Park in Blanchardstown - Richard Dekker and Trevor Noone.
Earlier this month, Richard Dekker (30) of Dublin 15 was sentenced to life in prison after a jury found him guilty of Daniel’s murder. Noone pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.
In a victim impact statement, Daniel’s sister Nikita said they searched rivers parks and fields for their brother when he went disappeared.
She said: ‘'While we searched, the people who killed him watched us search." She said they never even got a phonecall to say where he was.
Nikita said it still haunts the family to think how frightened Daniel must have been the day he was killed. She said the family still have nightmares of the teenager's last moments and that pain and hurt will be with them for the rest of their lives.
She said Daniel’s body was so badly decomposed he could only be identified by his teeth and they had to have a closed coffin for his funeral. She added that ''he was only a child'' who didn’t deserve to be killed in that way.
