A Dublin man, previously jailed for damaging a 10 million euro Monet painting, has been found guilty of possessing antique books.

51 year old Andrew Shannon from Willans Way in Ongar was accused of illegally handling the books which originated from Carton House.

Andrew Shannon went on trial for possessing 67 antique books after they went missing during the restoration of Carton house.

The books included a 1660 edition of the King James Bible of which only 6 exist.

Shannon had claimed he bought the books at a fair but the jury convicted him of illegally handling them.

In 2014, Shannon was convicted of damaging a Monet painting worth 10 million euro.

And in 2011 he was found guilty of handling stolen property involving valuable antique maps.

He will be sentenced for this latest offence in April.
