A man has died after being hit by a car in the city overnight.
It happened at around 2.40am on James Street.
A 62 year old man was pronounced dead at the scene after he was involved in a collision with a car.
The driver of the car, a 58 year old man, was taken by ambulance to St James Hospital for treatment but his injuries are believed to be minor.
The road was closed to facilitate a Forensic Collision Examination but has since re-opened
Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the collision to contact them.
