The undisputed lightweight champion of the world Katie Taylor is due to arrive home this morning.

She'll touch down in Dublin airport just after 10am.

Following her defeat of Belgian Delfine Persoon at New York's Madison Square Garden in the early hours of Sunday, the 32 year old Bray boxer is to receive a hero's welcome.

She defeated Belgium’s Delfine Persoon after a controversial majority point’s decision over the weekend.

Several respected commentators including Carl Frampton and David Haye has suggested the judges got it wrong.

Regardless of their views Taylor is the undisputed four-belt world champion in the lightweight division.

Wicklow County Council is now considering immortalising Katie in a statue in Bray.

Katie's opponent has confirmed that she will lodge a formal complaint with boxing authorities following her defeat.
