There's hope of a possible breakthrough in the junior doctors' strike.

The Irish Medical Organisation is thinking about getting back around the talks table, with the HSE after an invite to discuss the row over working hours, at the LRC.

The HSE says it accepts that hospitals should be slapped with a fine if they let their junior doctors work 24 hour shifts.

Stephen McMahon from the Irish Patients Association says the cost of those sanctions should not be passed on to patients.
