More than two in ten Irish people say they feel so guilty about going on holiday they don't take all the days they're entitled to.

A survey has also found most of us prefer going on several short breaks over taking one longer holiday.

Expedia’s 2015 Vacation Deprivation Study reveals Irish workers now have an average of 22.6 days' holidays a year, up 7% since 2013.

According to the study, Irish people are the happiest of any nation while away, with 95% of us having a good time abroad. Our post-holiday glow lasts long after the holiday is over also, with over seven in ten admitting they feel more focused afterwards.

Andy Washington, Managing Director of Expedia Ireland said "It’s amazing to see that Irish people are the world leaders when it comes to reporting the highest level of happiness when on holiday, at a staggering 95%."

"It is also interesting to note that Ireland is making progress to catch up with their European neighbors when it comes to annual holiday entitlement. Irish workers now get an average of 22.6 days of holidays, up 7% on 2013.”
