Last night, Gardai confirmed they have opened new lines of inquiry into the disappearance of Philip Cairns.

Philip was just 13 years old when he went missing from Rathfarnham in October, 1986.

The case remains one of the highest profile disappearances in the history of the state.

In 2011, a member of the public came forward with information regarding the case after an appeal was made on the 25th anniversary of Philip's disappearance.

Aisling O'Rourke reports:

A woman who came forward following an appeal in 2011, claimed to know who killed the teenager.
