Forensic experts have arrived at a housing estate in Finglas where a man was dumped from a car last night after being shot in the legs.

It happened just before 9 o'clock and the victim is being treated in hospital for non life threatening injuries.

Large white plastic sheeting marks the spot where a man was thrown from a moving car at a cul-de-sac on Kilshane Road.

The victim, a man in his 40s, was shot several times in the legs and taken to Blanchardstown hospital.

No arrests have yet been made but Gardai are looking into the possibility this was some sort of a punishment shooting.

Detectives are also trying to establish whether the man was shot at the scene before being dumped or was transported there afterwards.

A black BMW was spotted speeding through the estate last night and Gardai believe this was used in the attack.

A team of forensic experts are examining the area as speak and the scene remains sealed off.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Finglas Garda Station or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
