A Firhouse teenager who’s behind bars in an Egyptian prison is due to go on trial for the 9th time tomorrow.

It's now two years since 19 year old Ibrahim Halawa was arrested in Cairo, at a time when protests were taking place in the city.

Amnesty Ireland's Executive Director Colm O'Gorman says one of two things could happen tomorrow, "I think there are two possible outcomes. One is yet another postponement, which would be horrific on so many levels. Not just for Ibrahim but for his family as well."

Mr O'Gorman added, "This is like some sort of horror story groundhog day at this stage, it's been going on for 778 days now.

The other option that could happen is that mass convictions and mass sentences will be handed down."
