Dublin Fire Brigade says a blaze at the Shelbourne Hotel has been brought under control.

They were called to the scene on St Stephen's Street shortly after half ten this morning.

Six fire engines attended and located the fire on the fifth floor of the hotel.

Dublin Fire Brigade says a prompt and effective evacuation by staff helped enormously and the fire was brought under control by half 11.

There are no injuries, and traffic restrictions are expected to be lifted shortly.

A garda spokesperson says: "Gardaí are currently assisting Dublin Fire Brigade at the scene of a fire at a premises on St Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2 that was reported shortly before 11:00am this morning, Wednesday 12th June 2024.

"No injuries have been reported at this time.
