Another street in Dublin city centre is to go traffic free.

The city council has announced the changes will kick-in on Parliament Street on Friday July 4th, as part of efforts to reallocate more road space to walking and cycling.

It follows the pedestrianisation of Capel Street across the river Liffey in recent years.

Paul Keville from Stoned take-away says it will give the area a boost.

"There has been a need for Parliament Street to have traffic on it in the last couple of years. Once they changed the other side of the city, there was practically zero traffic coming up Parliament Street either way.

"For the businesses, this is going to be a lifesaver. It's a beautiful street so it's good for people that they can can sit out and have lunch with a nice view of City Hall.

"It'll really really help as it's mostly all hospitality (businesses) on the street."
