The Favourite has the most amount of nominations ahead of this year's Oscars.

The movie made by Dublin-based production company Element Pictures is up for ten awards.

They include Best Picture and Best Actress for Olivia Colman.

The Favourite received nominations across many other major categories - including best director (Yorgos Lanthimos) and two separate best supporting actress nods (Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz).

In the animated short category, the Kilkenny-based Cartoon Saloon's Late Afternoon - directed by Luise Bagnall - is one of the five films to get the nod.

Irish filmmaker Vincent Lambe's Detainment - which is based on the James Bulger case - has made the live action short nomination list.

Roma is also up for ten awards.

The 91st Academy Awards take place on February 24th at the Dolby theatre in Hollywood.
