A man has been arrested after an Irish Water worker was threatened with an imitation gun on the southside.
The incident happened in Blackrock yesterday afternoon.
Clashes between protesters and Irish water workers have been ongoing in part of the city since meter installers started arriving at doors.
But yesterday afternoon the largely peaceful demonstrations took a more sinister turn.
Its alleged an Irish Water employee was threatened by a man with a fake gun at Emmet Square in Blackrock at around a quarter to four.
A man in his 20s was arrested and brought to the local garda station for questioning.
He was released without charge last night and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
The imitation firearm has been seized by Gardai.
