A court has heard that a man allowed his bank account to be used as part of an Electric Picnic ticket scam.
Jonathan McLoughlin of Sheephill Park, Blanchardstown is due to be sentenced in January.
Jonathan McLoughlin’s part in the scam inspired one of his victims, Tara Stacey, to pen a song about it. She posted it on YouTube and ended up getting free tickets to the 2013 event.
She wasn’t the only one duped by the 35-year-old. Gardai became aware of the scam and put his account on alert. A withdrawal was made in August 2013 and he was arrested the following February.
He told Gardai he’d been getting a small amount of cannabis “on tick” at the time and was asked for his bank details. Gardai believe someone else was was involved but nobody else has been charged.
His account has been frozen and his victims will get a share of the funds in it. McLoughlin will be sentenced in January.
