Over €1 million euro worth of drugs have been seized in south Dublin.

Two people have been arrested following a search by Gardaí last night.

Officers attached to the Dublin East divisional drug unit carried out the raid at a home in Sandyford shortly before 7.30pm.

There they uncovered €560,000 worth of heroin and cocaine valued at €490,000.

The search was conducted as part of Operation Tara, which was set up last year in a bid to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks.

A man and a woman, who are both aged in their 50s, were arrested. They're being questioned at Dundrum Garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

The pair can be held for up to a week.

Gardaí say the investigation is ongoing, with further updates to follow.
