Four Credit Unions in Dublin are to be merged.

Howth-Sutton will join with the Credit Unions in Balbriggan, Skerries and Donabate.

The Central Bank says the lender was no longer viable as a stand-alone entity, and that the move's being taken to protect members' savings.

Tommy Broughan is an independent TD for the Dublin Bay North Constituency.

He's told 98FM News that the Central Bank has promised members their accounts will be managed 'as normal'.
