A group of council workers have been awarded an "eating on site allowance" after winning a battle with Dublin City Council.

The local authority had refused to pay the money claimed staff were not entitled to it because they have adequate facilities.

The Impact union argued that the allowance had been paid for more than 35 years.

The Labour Court recommended that the perk of 450 euro a year be paid to each worker.
