There are concerns the new drone technology at Dublin Airport won't be ready until July.

Staff have been trained in how to use it in a bid to stop flights being disrupted. It had been hoped it will be up and running soon.

But Dublin South West TD Colm Brophy has been hearing it's been delayed.

''Because of some crazy decision that before it's deployed they want to look at other infrastructure around the country or something like that, that may or may not need drone protection.....(because of this) the go ahead hasn't been given.''

He added: ''This is crazy they are talking that it may not be until July.''

Dublin airport was closed six times in the first two months of 2023 from illegal drone activity leading to flight disruptions and diversions.
