Six Cocker Spaniel puppies have been rescued from a van at Dublin Port.

They were found on Sunday evening, hidden among furniture without the correct papers or jabs for travelling.

The pups are just seven weeks old, and should still be with their mother.

They are now being cared for by the DSPCA, who will re-home them once they are old enough.

The animal charity says the pups "are in good health".

As they are so young and part of an ongoing investigation, they are "not be available for rehoming at this time".

The DSPCA is appealing to the public to help with any information of the location of illegal breeders, particularly any information about these particular puppies and where they may have come from.
