Gardai are investigating a cluster of fires in Darndale overnight.  The fire service says resources were seriously stretched in dealing with all three incidents - with units called in from across the city.   The biggest blaze was at PC Kitchens - it was reported shortly after 10pm and quickly escalated with 6 units called to the scene, in the Malahide Road Industrial Estate.

At the height of the fire - a water tanker was brought in because of a shortage in water mains pressure...    no one-was in the building at the time and there were no reports of injuries.

The fire service was busy tackling the blaze when a number of other fires were reported nearby - at a number of derelict buildings in Darndale, and the auto recyclers yard Summerhill Spares - where a number of cars went on fire.  A spokesperson for the auto-yard says the fires have been put out and they're back open for business this morning.

All the fires have now been extinguished but gardai are investigating to discover how they started, and how they spread.
