We may have to wait even longer to find out if the proposed new National Children's Hospital at St James' Hospital will get planning permission.

An Bord Pleanala was due to give a decision on the 15th of February, but according to the Herald that date has been put back because a report isn't ready.

There's controversy over the proposal to build it on the St James' in Dublin 8. Opponents say there isn't enough space, the area wouldn't be able to handle all the traffic and there won't be enough parking. The Jack and Jill Foundation believes it should be built at Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.

It's over a decade since the hospital was first planned but it's been dogged by delays. In 2012, planners rejected plans to locate it on the Mater site. The facility isn't expected to open until 2020.
