Cannabis Worth €400,000 Seized In West Dublin

€400,000 worth of cannabis has been seized in west Dublin.

A search operation took place yesterday as part of ongoing investigations targeting people suspected to be involved in an organised crime group operating in the west Dublin area.

A consignment of approximately 20 kilograms of herbal cannabis was detected by Revenue officers.

A number of further searches were carried out as a result of this seizure, and investigations are ongoing.

A garda spokesperson says: "On Thursday the 19th of May 2022, as part of ongoing investigations targeting individuals suspected to be involved in an organised crime group operating in the west Dublin area, a Joint Operation was conducted by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), the Clondalkin Divisional Drugs Unit and personnel attached to the Revenue Customs Service.

"During the course of this operation, a consignment of approximately 20 kilograms of Herbal Cannabis with an estimated street value of €400,000 was detected by Revenue Officers. A number of subsequent searches were carried out as a result of this seizure.

"Investigations are ongoing."
