Body Of Woman Discovered In Dublin Apartment

An investigation is under way into the death of a woman whose body was found at an apartment in Dublin this morning.

A man is helping gardai with their inquiries and is now receiving medical treatment.

Gardai were alerted at around 10am this morning.

The woman, aged in her 40s, was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead at an apartment in Royal Canal Park in Ashtown.

The scene has been preserved pending the arrival of the State Pathologist and the Garda Forensic Bureau. The body of the woman remains at the scene.

Investigations are ongoing and Gardai say they are following a definite line of inquiry.

Statement

A garda spokesperson says: "Gardaí at Cabra continue to investigate the death of a woman (40s) whose body was discovered in an apartment at Royal Canal Park, Dublin 15 on Friday, 13th January 2023.

"No arrests have been made at this time, but an adult male who was assisting An Garda Síochána with their enquires is now receiving medical treatment.

"Gardaí are not looking for anyone else in relation to this investigation.

"Gardaí and Emergency Services were alerted to the incident at approximately 10:00am this morning. The female was found unresponsive in an apartment and was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

"The scene is currently preserved to allow for a forensic and technical examination by the Garda Technical Bureau. The body of the deceased remains at the scene.

"The Office of the State Pathologist has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be conducted at the Dublin City Mortuary."
