Jozef Puska will stand trial in October, accused of murdering primary school teacher, Ashling Murphy.

Mr. Puska, of Lynally Grove in Tullamore, Co. Offaly, was due to stand trial next month, but the prosecution has been given more time to prepare for the case.

He’s accused of murdering Ashling Murphy, a 23-year-old primary school teacher on the 12th of January 2022.

Ms Murphy was killed while out for a run along the Grand Canal in Tullamore, Co Offaly that afternoon.

Today, Mr Justice Paul McDermott was told the prosecution had received an expert report from the defence team that would require some consideration and time for their own expert report to be compiled.

With that in mind, and no objection from Mr Puska’s lawyers, the judge agreed to adjourn the trial until October.

Report by Frank Greaney.
