Almost 1000 children in Dublin are homeless and living in emergency accommodation.
Figures from the Dublin Region Homeless Executive show that at the end of March there were 411 families in emergency accommodation with 911 children.
This is up from the previous month when 371 families with 803 children were homeless.
It represents the biggest monthly increase since the housing crisis began here and is a 55 percent increase in the number of homeless families since June of last year.
The Homeless Executive says services across Dublin's four local authorities are managing 'unprecedented demand' for places at the moment.
The vast majority presenting are coming from the private rented sector where rents have increased by around 7 percent last year.
Focus Ireland says the key factor triggering homelessness was last month's news that the Department of Social Proection wouldn't increase rent supplement rates.
