The Director of Public Prosecutions has decided not to pursue a charge of sexual assault against Al Porter.

The well-known entertainer was accused of sexually assaulting a young man in a Dublin venue three years ago.

An order prohibiting the media from identifying the 26-year-old was lifted after the judge struck out the case this afternoon.

Mr. Porter, whose real name is Alan Kavanagh, made a brief statement outside court afterwards.

"For two long and very anxious years, I have fully co-operated and I have respected the legal process".

He said he was "in complete agreement with waiving anonymity today" before he knew the charge was being dropped.

"I have always denied any wrongdoing in this case", he said.
