It's like we say on a Monday morning, it's no longer The Weeknd!

The Weeknd is leaving his stage name behind and going his birth name Abel Tesfaye from now on.

The man who brought us bops like 'Blinding Lights' and 'Can't Feel My Face', took to Twitter last month to get the opinion of his fans.

The name change comes after the Canadian popstar revealed he wanted to "kill The Weeknd" in an interview with W Magazine while he was promoting his new show with  Lily Rose Depp, Idol.

"I'm going through a cathartic path right now" he said. "It's getting to a place and time where I'm getting ready to close The Weeknd chapter."

When he was asked how the stage name "The Weeknd" came about, he explained that when he dropped out of school, he took his mattress with him as if he was "leaving one weekend and never coming home".

But he told W Magazine: "As the Weeknd, I've said everything I can say." He added that his next album would probably be his "last hurrah" under that name.

So there you are now, The Weeknd is no more, we'll be listening to Abel Tesfaye from here on out!
