Subtle not so subtle!

Jade Thirwall’s debut solo single is dropping soon, and people are noticing one lyric in particular is a very blatant reference to Simon Cowell.

The singer won X-Factor back in 2011 as part of Little Mix, who went on to have major success under the direction of Simon Cowell’s label Syco.

However Little Mix cut ties with Syco back in 2018 over writing credit disputes, and former X-Factor contestants like Katie Waisel and Jedward have spoken out about feeling mistreated during their time on the show.

Little Mix continued under new management until Jesy Nelson left to go solo in 2020. The band continued as a trio for another year before they decided to take a hiatus, with Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock becoming new mammies in that time.

Since then all 4 former members of Little Mix have worked on solo music, with Perrie Edwards and Leigh Anne Pinnock releasing new music recently.

Jade is the last member to release her own solo track. And people are spotting that she takes a very obvious swipe at Simon Cowell in her song.

The song - called Angel Of My Dreams - features the line “sold my soul to a SyCo” – referring to Simon Cowell’s famous label.

SyCo as a music label is no longer in operation, however its wider parent company Syco Entertainment is still working on creating new TV productions that could live up to the success of The X-Factor.
