Great news for Bridget Jones fans!

It’s been 23 years since Bridget Jones first burst onto our screens and now it looks like the 4th chapter is about to be written.

The leading woman herself Renée Zellweger has officially signed on, along with some other exciting names.

Hugh Grant has been confirmed to reprise his role of Danielle Cleaver, having not appeared in the third film Bridget Jones’ Baby. And another legend of British cinema has signed on to the fourth installment of Bridget Jones, none other than Emma Thompson!

Those aren’t the only exciting editions to the cast. Chiwetel Ejiofor (known for 12 Years A Slave and Love Actually) and Leo Woodall (known for The White Lotus and One Day) have also signed for their first Bridget Jones film.

Bridget Jones 4 is based on the Helen Fielding’s book Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy and if you don’t want any spoilers on the premise of this story, don’t read on!

In Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, Bridget is a widowed mother of 2 in her 50s. So that tells us that Mark D'Arcy AKA Colin Firth seems to be written out of this story.

Unlike Hugh Grant, Colin Firth had appeared in the 2016 film Bridget Jones' baby, where his character competes with the charming billionaire Jack Qwant (played by Patrick Dempsey) for Bridget's affections after she falls pregnant.

Some might say it's not Bridget Jones without Mark D'Arcy but either way we can't wait to see where her story goes next!
