Is this the busiest man in Ireland? 😅
The new host of The Late Late Show is set to star in a brand new movie!
A trailer for Ballywalter starring Patrick Kielty has been released today.
Patrick Kielty has done lots of work in performance and stand-up comedy, but this is his first role in feature film drama.
Ballywalter is described as a bittersweet comedy-drama set in Belfast and is the directorial debut of English actor Prasanna Puwanarajah.
You might recognise Dublin actress Seána Kerslake starring as the main character, Eileen. She'd be best known for her roles in Bad Sisters, A Date for Mad Mary and the Irish horror film, The Hole in the Ground.
Eileen is a university drop-out, whose dreams of a successful life in London have fallen by the wayside. She makes ends meet by working as a minicab driver.
Patrick Kielty's character, Shane, has meanwhile exiled himself to Ballywalter in the aftermath of his failed marriage, and is trying to get his life back on track by signing up for a stand-up comedy course.
Their paths cross when Shane is picked up for his course by Eileen, and an unlikely friendship begins to unfold.
Ballywalter had its world premiere at the 2022 Belfast Film Festival, and is described as a "life-affirming story about the unexpected connections that can change the course of our lives".
Speaking on the release of the first trailer, Patrick Kielty shared these words: "Delighted to be able to share this. And proud to be part of an amazing cast and crew."
