Met Eireann Issues Yellow Rain Warning

Met Eireann has issued a rain warning for Leinster and Munster.

The yellow alert is valid from 7pm on Thursday August 8th until 7am on Friday August 9th.

The forecaster is predicting accumulations of 25 to 40mm and says spot flooding is likely.

"Heavy Rain will spread from the south Thursday evening and night. Accumulations of 25 to 40mm will occur over a relatively short time period. Spot flooding is likely", a spokesperson said.

In Dublin today, it started mainly dry with isolated showers and some sunny spells. Showers are set to become more frequent later with top temperatures of 18 to 19 degrees.

Tonight will be mostly dry with clear spells and lows of 9 to 11 degrees. There will be light winds with mist or fog forming.
